About the Festival

Updated 10/11/04

Although over the years (all 28 of them in various incarnations!) the Festival has grown into quite a large event it has still retained its unique “intimate” atmosphere.

You can enjoy a whole week-end of music, song and dance for the price of just a concert!

it’s a Festival to ”get involved in” - where the audience is (at least!) as important as the guests!

it's where the folkscene meets for its Christmas Party - for a good sing, dance and play, a good story, a good drink, some good company, and a really good time!

It’s the place to be at the end of the Festival season!
..... and it is the UK's biggest annual winter folk event!

Latest news about the special plans for this year includes:

Don't let the news about the "unfinished"state of the Civic Hall deter you, we are making the most of trying some new venues and events. In addition Saturday will be a big celebration day in bedworth with local riadio station Mercia Sound promoting events on a town centre stage all afternoon, a continental market will also feature in the town centre (both friday and saturday) and the now annual event of turning on the Bedworth Christmas lights, will take place on saturday evening - the full programme of town centre events will be included in the fetsival programme which will appear in outline form on the web site mid October and the "final" programme early Novenmber. All this is in addition to approaching 200 dancers in the town centre and surrounding areas.

    Additional Venues
See the venues page, we have already added four new venues, and are still negotiating for others, all are really close (within a hundred yards or so of existing venues) to the town centre and the Civic Hall base.

    Disabled Access
Please note that many of our new/temporary venues are upstairs and therefore disabled access is very limited - we have done everything we can to address this but regret that some people with mobility problems may find the venues unaccessible. This difficulty is for this year only, as it was either a case of using the available venues or cancelling the whole event. Daft thing is the Ceilidhs have the easiest access!

    Bigger Friday Ceilidh

will now take place at Bedworth Ex-Servicemens Club, a really confortable venue just at the back of the Civic Hall, and with drinks at cheap "club" prices too!
