The Venues

Updated 10/11/04

The Civic Hall, traditionally our main venue and base, is currently having a major refurbishment, and this years festival should have been one of the first events in the new look premises, however work has been delayed following the "discovery" of asbestos, and only the CIVIC HALL MAIN HALL will be available for the festival, therefore the Craft Fair and the Saturday evening "Peeping Tom" Ceilidh will be the only events in the Civic Hall- needless to say finding new venues at short notice has been a nightmare, however we must offer our total thanks to the people of the town who have been fantastic with their support for the festival and with their help in sorting out venues so everything can go ahead almost as planned!

Being an adventurous lot we have seen this as an opportunity to have a complete re-think about the infrastructure of the festival and we have come up with what we feel are more than adequate replacements - we need to hear from you about what you think of these venues as your feedback will help to shape the whole future of the Festival!

This years new (and changed use) venues
( see map for directions - all are within 100 yards or less of the Civic Hall )

We are pleased to say we have aquired some very pleasant venues to play host to this years festival whilst the Civic Hall is undergoing refurbishment - let us know what you think about the new venues, the venue owners have been really excellent in helping the festival ensure all can go ahead as normal this year (and all at very short notice!) - if you like the venues, we would like to continue to use them in future years as we take the next steps in the expansion of the festival.

Disabled Access
Please note that many of our new/temporary venues are upstairs and therefore disabled access is very limited - we have done everything we can to address this but regret that some people with mobility problems may find the venues unaccessible. This difficulty is for this year only, as it was either a case of using the available venues or cancelling the whole event. Daft thing is the Craft Fair and Ceilidhs have the easiest access!

THE WHITE SWAN, home of Bedworth Folk Club, hosts Music and Song sessions plus "Meet" sessions and Workshops on saturday, and is the centre of Sundays events, when events will include the "Songs for Sunday" and John Connolly's "Sailortown" sessions plus the "Sunday Big Sing" and rounds off the whole week-end with what promises to be a very tasty Folk Club session. It is also a general meeting place for music sessions throughout the week-end. Lounge is downstairs Clubroom is upstairs with restricted mobility access difficulties

THE ARTS CENTRE COFFEE BAR will be the administration base, ticket collection point, sales etc, for the festival this year for friday and saturday, and will be used for a couple of workshop sessions (and don't forget the Real Ale Bar) Venue is upstairs - Lift is in the process of installation but will not be in operation until January. Please note you must use the temporary entrance at the back of the Civic Hall/Arts Centre accessible from the Car Park Area.

THE ARTS CENTRE THEATRE will host a number of concerts including festival favourite event "The Voices Concert" and "meet" sessions on Saturday, also the Friday evening Folk Club. (And don't forget the Real Ale Bar in the Coffe Bar area.) - Lift is in the process of installation but will not be in operation until January THIS IS A NO SMOKING VENUE. Please note you must use the temporary entrance at the back of the Civic Hall/Arts Centre accessible from the Car Park Area.

A new and late addition to our venues line-up is the recently refurbished WHITE HORSE - just 50 yards fron The White Swan - it is hosted by Dave, former barman at the Swan who many of you will know. The Horse has a smashing upstairs room, and we are really pleased to have been able to add this to our venues, you are also welcome to sing and play in the new spacious open plan dpwnstairs lounge. In addition to excellent ales the Horse also does some very tasty rolls if you fancy a light snack. Lounge is downstairs Clubroom is upstairs with restricted mobility access difficulties

BEDWORTH EX-SERVICEMANS CLUB is a really excellent venue, just at the end of the car park at the back of the Civic Hall. It will be the venue for friday night's ceilidh only as unfortunately it is booked for the rest of the week-end - let us know what you think as we would very much like to include this venue again in the future. Drinks at club prices Room is on ground level THIS IS A NO SMOKING VENUE.

THE CONSERVATIVE CLUB, just 50 yards along from The Arts Centre, will be the host venue for Friday Night's main concert 8pm to Midnight - this gives us a much bigger capacity for the friday concert!. Drinks at club prices. This room has already been booked for next year for the whole week-end as a major concert venue. Room is upstairs with restricted mobility access difficulties

Saturday we will be using the wonderful upstairs room of THE LIBERAL CLUB for a continuous "Folk Cabaret" with all the main festival guests putting in an appearance during the day (the event will run from 11 am to Midnight) there will be something for everyone in this very comfortable venue - including drinks at club prices! The Club has also agreed to put on food for us during Saturday, call in and see what's on offer as there is no catering in the Civic Hall this year. Lift is planned for installation in time for 2005 festival, meantime restricted mobility access difficulties

THE FIRE STATION SOCIAL CLUB will also host Concerts, and "themed" events, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. There is an excellent bar available (at really cheap prices - just £1.40 for a pint of bitter!) Room is upstairs with restricted mobility access difficulties

MILL STREET METHODIST CHURCH plays hosts to the Childrens Events - "The Cool Dudes Club" - remember this venue IS NOT A CRECHE, the festival only puts on events for children, it offers no facilities, and takes no responsibility, for looking after your children. Please note this is strictly a "No Alcohol" venue. THIS IS A NO SMOKING VENUE.
