This year the Festival takes place over the week-end of 27th – 29th November, and although we are still finalising one or two names for the guest list, we think we have already put together yet again a really great line-up for the week-end. Last year we had a lot of really nice comments about what a great “singers” festival Bedworth is, and what really pleased us is that that has been our aim over the years - and is also the criteria that we consider when compiling the guest list!

So what is in store this year?

A list of manDuncany of the county’s very best traditional and contemporary performers - not a big list of commercial headliners, but a whole host of the performers that form the backbone of todays folk music and song scene, great established names like Strawhead, Bryony, Jim Mageean, Graeme Knights, Barrie & Ingrid Temple, Ian Bruce, Bob & Gill Berry, Geoff Higginbottom, Derek Gifford, Jon Harvison and Phil Hare; some nameJohnnys who have really made a big impact on the scene in the last few years like GU4, Duncan McFarlane, J P Slidewell, and some names that are destined to be stars of the future - just watch out for Tri, already getting rave reviews everywhere they play. This year we also have some really spectacuar dance displays organised with the largest contingent of ritual dancers ever to visit the festival, plus a splattering of other performers from the best of the National and Local folkscene. We will be holding our annual Craft Fair in the Civic Hall, which will also be the venue for the Grand Ceilidh on Saturday evening with the great combination of Pete Grassby and The Aardvarks! Be sure to keep up with all the news, as the plans unfold, here, on our web site.

It is also more than appropriate to mention a very special annual visitor to Bedworth who will no longer be with us. The tragic loss of Johnny Collins in the week as we finalized our line-up for 2009 has left us all stunned and left a big gap in the folk world - we know however that Johnny would want us to all get together as usual and have really “Good Times”, and of course we plan to do something special in Johnny’s memory!

Although over the years the Festival has grown into quite a large event it has still retained its unique “intimate” atmosphere: You can enjoy a whole week-end of music, song and dance for little more than the price of just a concert! - It’s a Festival to ”get involved in” - where the audience is (at least!) as important as the guests! - It's where the folk scene meets for its Christmas Party - for a good sing, dance and play, a good story, a good drink, some good company, and a really good time! - It’s the place to be at the end of the Festival season!
..... and it is the UK's biggest annual winter folk event!
